Europe Travel Maps Packing Suggestions - it's true. We have traveled Europe with just two rolling bags plus a carry-on bag for medications. Here are some suggestions we can share with you: 1. Pack half of each other's clothes in the other's suitcase. Pack by category: day, evening, etc. 2. Put a copy of your itinerary inside the luggage in case the luggage gets lost and send one to your kids. 3. Bring small bills for immediate currency needs and then use ATMs for more serious money or credit cards. 4. Try to sleep on overnight flights and avoid heavy eating or drinking caffeine the night before and when flying. 5. US settings for cell phones are 800, while Europe is 900 and 1800 MHz. You can rent a cell phone or use public phones. 6. If you are diabetic, don't worry about refrigerating Insulin. It retains full potency for months or even years at room temperature.
Passports
- it takes 10 weeks -- or longer- to get a passport. Even the expedited passport service, which requires an additional $60 fee plus overnight shipping costs, has slid from two weeks to four weeks or "possibly longer," according to the State Department.

Medications - there is a ban on
liquids and gels in containers
larger than 3 ounces, carrying
medical supplies and medicines has
been confusing. The TSA allows
liquid prescription medications and
some over the counter liquids if
they are necessary for your
disability or medical condition.
If they are in containers larger
than 3 ounces, pack them separately
from that quart size plastic bag.
You must declare them to the TSA
officer and you may have to take
your medications out of your carry
on to show the TSA agent

information Money - Travelers checks should be exchanged at banks for cash. There are a few ATM machines in Minsk and there are places that will accept credit cards including many banks, stores and restaurants. The currency is the Belarusian ruble (BR). The ruble is the money used in Belarus. Warning, be careful of street people approaching you to exchange rubles for dollars. You risk big problems with the police. Bring one dollar bills along with $20 dollar bills. They both are quite acceptable currency. There are legitimate currency exchanges opened in larger cities. You can also get rubles from a bank that accepts credit cards as there are no ATM machines. I ran into an experience in Ukraine, that may be happening in Belarus. It has to do with exchanging $100 bills for rubles. Unless the $100 are fairly new, the banks, and the street exchangers frown on accepting them, especially the older bills. Those were easier to copy. I brought mostly $20 bills along with many singles.
